वंदे मातरम् | National Song | राष्‍ट्रीय गीत

बंकिमचंद्र चटर्जी द्वारा संस्कृत में रचित गीत वंदे मातरम स्वतंत्रता संग्राम में लोगों के लिए प्रेरणा का स्रोत था। इसे जन-गण-मन के बराबर का दर्जा प्राप्त है। 24 जनवरी, 1950 को राष्ट्रपति डॉ. राजेंद्र प्रसाद ने संविधान सभा में एक बयान दिया, "भारतीय स्वतंत्रता संग्राम में ऐतिहासिक भूमिका निभाने वाले गीत वंदे मातरम को जन गण मन के साथ समान रूप से सम्मानित किया जाएगा।" और उसके बराबर का दर्जा होगा।” प्रथम छंद :

राष्‍ट्रीय गीत का समय लगभग 1 मिनट 9 सेकंड है। पहला राजनीतिक अवसर जब इसे गाया गया वह भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस का 1896 का अधिवेशन था। यह गाना बंकिमचंद्र के सबसे प्रसिद्ध उपन्यास आनंद मठ (1882) का हिस्सा था।

The song Vande Mataram, composed in Sanskrit by Bankimchandra Chatterji, was a source of inspiration to the people in their struggle for freedom. It has an equal status with Jana-gana-mana. On January 24, 1950, the President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad came up with a statement in the Constituent Assembly, "the song Vande Mataram, which has played a historic part in the struggle for Indian freedom, shall be honoured equally with Jana Gana Mana and shall have equal status with it."

The first political occasion when it was sung was the 1896 session of the Indian National Congress. The song was a part of Bankimchandra's most famous novel Anand Math (1882).
